(Sacramento, CA) – Senator Jeff Stone (R-28th District) released the following statement in response to the Governor’s State of the State Address this morning in Sacramento:
“I look forward to working with the Governor, the new administration in Washington D.C., and my fellow legislators in Sacramento, to continue to restore the luster of our Golden State.
“As the Governor said is his address, here in California it is time to look beyond political party and act as Californian’s first.
“We owe it to our constituents and taxpayers in the state to work collaboratively and collegially with our federal partners to make sure our state receives its fair share of federal funding, but we need to closely examine how our valuable tax dollars are spent and make sure they aren’t being wasted on programs and services that aren’t absolutely essential.”
“Now is not the time to pick petty partisan fights that continue to divide our state. Now is the time to find common ground and move forward. California has much to gain if we work together and much to lose if we don’t.”
